Nigeria's Josh Maja continued his fine form to help West Bromwich Albion achieve an emphatic victory in the EFL Championship, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Maja scored his fifth goal of the season in a 3-0 win for the Baggies who defeated Portsmouth on Sunday at Fratton Park.

Maja opened the score for the visitors as early as the first minute after executing Fellow's pass well, hitting the ball into the roof of the net.

The Nigerian came close to scoring on three occasions afterward but resolute defending and a disallowed goal made that impossible as the first half ended 1-0.

Six minutes into the second phase of the game it was 2-0 for West Brom as Alex Mowatt doubled the lead.

Mowatt picked his spot from the edge of the box and bent a wonderful strike into the top corner.

Maja was substituted on 80 minutes before Mowatt scored his second of the night to make it 3-0 on 90 plus 2 minutes.

He fired in a brilliant free kick to cap a wonderful performance on the south coast.

The win keeps West Brom top of the log after five matches with 13 points while Portsmouth is 23rd on the log with 3 points.

Meanwhile, Maja compatriot Semi Ajayi also featured in the comfortable away victory over Portsmouth.
