Ex-Ghana defender Joe Addo says Christian Atsu made the wrong career decision when he opted to join Everton on loan, accusing the winger of failing to heed to advise.

The former Hearts star is incensed with the lack of playing time for the Ghanaian international despite his impressive showing at the international level with the Black Stars.

Atsu has struggled to break into the Everton starting team despite his MVP feat at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Porto man is deemd not good enough to play for the Toffees, with manager Roberto Martinez not quite unimpressed with his quality.

And Joe Addo has slammed the decision to join a club which could not guarantee him regular playing time.

“Some of these things when we talk about it, the players feel we don’t know what we are about. I said it before he joined Everton, that he needs to find another Club which will assure him of playing time, but all that fell on deaf ears”, he is quoted as saying

“Just last week, I read somewhere that the supporters of the club have asked the coach not to renew his loan deal when it expires at the end of the season, and that for me is the highest level of a team that has nothing good to offer you.

He is at a loss at how an African Cup of Nations best player could rot on the bench of a club like Everton.

“I mean how can a player who won the best player in a bid tournament like the African Cup of Nations not be able to break into Everton squad.” he continued

“I think he will be regretting by now, and I suggest that he sits down with both his coach and his manager to take a second look at his career because he needs to start playing again, for the sake of our national team.”

Atsu is expected to return to Chelsea after the expiration of his loan deal but will find it difficult to break into a star studded Chelsea squad.

Fiifi, what in the world are you talking about? What does him being a married man have to do with making the right decision. Twwwww... Anyways I agree, he made the wrong decision. Some of our players don't think sometimes. He should've never left Porto. He was getting playing time. Chelsea wasn't a bad move knowing that he was gonna be sent on loan to get playing time but the decision to go to Everton pissed me off. I hope he wakes up fast and make the right decision cause the young man has a bright future. Just look at Andre Ayew, the guy had the chance to leave Marseille 2-3 yrs ago but he stayed and kept improving. Now he can leave with the assurance that he will play any team he decides to join
