Japan produce masterful performance
Ulaanbaatar: Japan showed their class as they cruised to a 7-0 win over Singapore in an AFC U-19 Championship 2018 Qualifiers Group I tie in Ulaanbaatar on Monday.
It was Japan's second consecutive 7-0 win, having beaten hosts Mongolia by the same score on Saturday, and placed them firmly in the driver's seat for the automatic qualifying spot from the group.
Japan made eight changes to their starting lineup as they took to the pitch in severe weather conditions.
The snowy weather had no effect on Japan as they took the lead in the third minute through Hiroki Ito.
Ito followed that up with a header in the 23rd minute as Japan took a firm grip of proceedings.
Singapore were struggling to defend Japan's setpieces and five minutes later, defender Yuta Nakamura scored with another header.
Yuta Goke converted from the penalty spot in the 31st and 10 minutes later, Tanaka Riku added his name to the scoreboard for a 5-0 lead at half time for Japan.
After the break, Japan took their foot off the pedal somewhat but still possessed too much quality as Kyosuke Tagawa make it 6-0 in the 78th minute with a penalty.
Substitute Takumu Kawamura scored their final goal eight minute from time as Japan prepared perfectly for Wednesday's match against Thailand.

“According to the weather forecast, we knew that it would be snowing today. But I didn’t expect a lot of snow on the pitch. So it was a very difficult match. Our players followed tthe game plan very well. We started very well and scored in the early minutes. I hope the pitch condition will be much better in the last match.:

“It was a very tough match for my boys. Most of them saw snow for the first time. From the first whistle, we conceded too many corners and free-kicks. Even though Japan and we played in a very difficult situation, their quality and performance were better than us."
