"?Former Liverpool teammates Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp have chosen a best Liverpool team among their former teammates during the Premier League era.

"?Speaking to the Mirror, Redknapp agreed to include Carragher in the combined XI, but the favour wasn't returned as Redknapp missed out on selection, despite the former Spurs and England midfielder featuring in 237 Premier League matches for the Reds.

Instead, Anfield legend Steven Gerrard and current Bayern Munich lynchpin Xabi Alonso take up the two central midfield spots, while John Barnes lines up on the left with Steve McManaman on the right.

While both of the Sky Sports pundits admitted to not playing with a top class left-back, they ultimately opted for Norwegian John Arne Riise, who won the Champions League and the FA Cup during his time at the club. Rob Jones also made the cut, Carragher is partnered by Sami Hyypia in central defence while Pepe Reina claims his place in goal ahead of the likes of Jerzy Dudek and Bruce Grobbelaar.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez makes the cut, starting up front with 'social secretary' Robbie Fowler as the pair omitted the likes of Fernando Torres, who left for Chelsea, and Michael Owen, who joined Manchester United later in his career.

When asked why those two had been left out, Carragher's response was typically blunt.

"One went to Man United and one went to Chelsea - so f**k them!"

Had all those stars been born in the same period, Liverpool may well have claimed that Premier League title that still eludes them.
