Jamaica Hand Manchester United Youngster Dante Plunkett First Senior Call-Up Ahead Of Nigeria Clash
Rudolph Speid has invited teenage defender Dante Plunkett to the Jamaica national football team squad ahead of the Unity Cup final against Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The 18-year-old has received his maiden senior national team invitation and is expected to join the Reggae Boyz for Friday’s training session in London.
Plunkett joined Manchester United F.C. in 2024 after impressing during a trial spell with the Premier League giants.
The left-back featured 15 times for Manchester United’s U-18 team during the 2025/26 season across all competitions.
Before moving to Old Trafford, the youngster previously spent time with Aston Villa F.C.
Jamaica will take on the Nigeria national football team in the final of the Unity Cup at The Valley on Saturday night.
Both countries met in last year’s final, where the game ended 2-2 before Nigeria triumphed 5-4 on penalties to retain the trophy they previously won in 2002 and 2004.
The Reggae Boyz will now be hoping to gain revenge when they face Éric Chelle’s side in another highly anticipated showdown.
Jamaica reached the final after defeating India national football team 2-0 in the semi-final, while Nigeria also secured a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe national football team.
