Cesar Azpilicueta scored the first Premier League of the new decade but a stunning overhead kick from Alireza Jahanbakhsh earned Brighton a deserved point in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Azpilicueta's close range strike after 10 minutes looked to have settled a sleepy affair on New Year's Day.

Brighton pushed for an equaliser and came close through Leandro Trossard and Aaron Connolly who both forced Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga into a fine save before Jahanbakhsh's wonder goal in the 84th minute.

Kepa also saved from Brighton striker Neal Maupay late on as Brighton pushed for a winner.
