It would have been 'criminal' not to have coached Kotoko - Duncan
David Duncan says it would have been ‘criminal’ not to have coached Kotoko after holding his first meeting with the players on Thursday.
The 51-year-old is currently in Algeria with his new team after agreeing a two-year deal with the club.
He traveled with the side as an observer ahead of Saturday’s CAF Champions League first leg tie against El Eulma.
The former Ashantigold trainer, who has also coached Hearts and Great Olympics says I would have been ‘criminal’ not to have coached a club from his mother’s hometown.
“In all my coaching life; I have served at my father’s hometown, that’s in the Fanti area. My father is a Fanti. I’ve served where I was raised – where I’ve spent virtually all the days of my life; that’s Accra. I’ve served all the two glamorous, traditional or well-known clubs – Olympics and Hearts,” he told the players during an open interaction in Algeria.
“It would’ve been very criminal not to have served where my mother comes from.
“Even before this announcement or this introduction, you had speculated, you had assumed. As a matter of fact, I’m happy to be here. Being amongst you confirms what you have been hearing. I am happy to be here.”
