Ghana influential midfielder is a subject of intense transfer interest from two unnamed Spanish side and could be set for a move back to Spain.
The former AshantiGold hard tackling midfielder enjoyed his best football in the Spanish La Liga with Villareal before later Espanyol.
A highly lucrative move to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan threatened to cost him a place in the Ghana team for the world cup but ultimately profited from his explosive performance for the team at the AFCON just over a year before that.
“It was a very difficult moment and very difficult to adapt giving I had just left a country I was so comfortable and enjoyed great success both on off the pitch,” Wakaso told Ghana’s number one soccer portal GHANAsoccernet.com
Having struggled to knock down regular game time with Celtic largely due to limited opportunities and national commitment Wakaso has been strongly tipped to make a return to Spain where he describes as a second home.
“Spain is a beautiful place with a lot of culture most probably one of the best countries you can ever play your football with just may be one day I might return there.
The 25 year old has made only five starts for Rony Deila side and scored an absolute beauty on his debut but ultimately was the highest point of a marriage that promised a lot from onset but ultimately yielded little due to a lot of contributing factors from the players point and from a club who wanted stability.
With the sun settling on Wakaso’s time in the Scottish league the Ghanaian is not short of options, returning to the cold in Russia and fighting for his place is definitely one of the options but from all indications the growing interest from Spain with a seductive appeal of regular game time on the pitch is one that will have him spend nights to ponder if a pay cut to enjoy the game that has only not brought him wealth but fame is worth having a second crack at.
As things stands now one thing is certain and that is he will not be making his loan move at Celtic permanent.
