Simone Inzaghi was full of praise for his team's display at the Franchi as they battled back from a goal down to claim all three points.

"I think I've joined a team of winners," the boss began. "We're working hard and improving together. We've had an excellent start but we can do even better. We struggled to keep up with Fiorentina's tempo in the first 30 minutes, but afterwards we stepped up our game. We scored three goals and it could have been more. This is a huge win at a ground where lots of teams will find it very difficult.”

Edin Dzeko's goal was Inter's third headed goal from a corner this season: “We have players who are excellent in the air and others such as [Federico] Dimarco, [Hakan] Calhanoglu and [Marcelo] Brozovic who can put the ball where they want from set-pieces. That's something we have to make the most of.

“It wasn't easy to win here because Fiorentina were flying and we needed to muster a reaction. We kept it together and went out after the break with the right attitude.

“At half time I told the lads they were making too many mistakes. We knew Fiorentina would harry us but I told them to keep it up because Fiorentina wouldn't have been able to maintain that tempo.

“I'm lucky to have such an excellent squad. We have [Alexis] Sanchez back now too. He's been training well for the last 10 days or so. We lost three key players, in [Romelu] Lukaku, [Achraf] Hakimi and [Christian] Eriksen in the summer but we didn't let it affect us. The club and I worked hard to bring in quality players who fit in with our playing style.

“Not many people rated Inter highly in the summer but we believe in our work and want to do our talking on the pitch. We'll take each day as it comes without getting ahead of ourselves. Now we'll focus on Atalanta because we have less than four days to get ready for that game.”
