International Break: Partey out of Ghana-Nigeria friendly
Ghana international, Thomas Partey, is set to miss the upcoming friendly match between for the Black Stars and Nigeria’s Super Eagles this month in Marrakech, Morocco, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
While Nigeria play both Ghana and Mail on the March, the Black Stars will as well be gearing up for their first matches since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, facing the Super Eagles and Uganda.
While most regular national team players will be called up, Partey, the Arsenal midfield stalwart, will be given time off to avoid risking a recurrence of his recent injury, which sidelined him for four months.
Despite his absence, sources confirm Partey's unwavering commitment to the Black Stars and his willingness to answer future call-ups.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association is poised to announce a new head coach for the Black Stars imminently, who will then select the squad for the friendly encounters scheduled for March 22 and March 26 against Nigeria and Uganda, respectively.
Both Nigeria and Ghana will taking their friendlies as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
