Ings is raring to go
Danny Ings can't wait for the new season to start after completing his permanent transfer from Liverpool to Southampton.
The 26-year-old, who scored seven goals in 24 Premier League appearances while on loan at Saints last season, has penned a four-year deal at St Mary's after completing his £18.72million switch. The transfer fee will rise by another £2million with add-ons.
Ings said: "It feels good. Obviously, being here for a season already, I felt like it was very up and down for me personally, with a few niggles and small injuries, and that was off the back of not having a strong pre-season going into the season.
"Now I've signed permanently, I feel great. I'm just raring to go for the new season.
"The last few years have been very up and down for me, but now I've looked after myself over this summer and I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully great things can come from it."
Ings started his career at Bournemouth before moving to Burnley eight years ago. The striker scored 38 goals in 122 league appearances for the Clarets and was signed by Liverpool in 2015.
However, he only started six top-flight games for the Reds after rupturing his ACL and then suffering a serious knee injury.
He started the 2018/19 campaign well for Southampton but failed to score after the turn of the year and missed sections of the season because of hamstring injuries.
Southampton are 3/1 to finish in the top half of the table in 2019/20 and 15/8 to beat Burnley at Turf Moor on the opening weekend of the season.
