Tolu Arokodare scores again as Ajax are held by Excelsior

Tolu Arokodare continued his scoring run for Ajax by finding the net two minutes after coming off the bench in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Excelsior Rotterdam.

Julian Brandt and Arokodare scored for Ajax, while Lennard Hartjes and Aymen Sliti struck for the visitors.

The goal further underlined Arokodare’s strong start since joining the Amsterdam club on loan from Wolverhampton. The towering striker has now scored six goals in nine matches for Ajax and has quickly become a favourite with the supporters.

His latest contribution also strengthened the case for his return to the Nigeria squad. Arokodare has been called up to the Super Eagles for the first time in ten months and is expected to feature against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau during the international break.

Ajax were unable to secure victory despite Arokodare’s impact after his introduction, with Excelsior recovering to earn a point.
