Super Falcons Edge Tanzania in Final WAFCON Warm-Up
Nigeria's Super Falcons rounded off their preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tanzania in an international friendly, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The nine-time African champions made a bright start and broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when captain Rasheedat Ajibade calmly slotted home to put Nigeria ahead.
Tanzania responded positively and found an equaliser to leave the contest evenly poised for much of the encounter, with both sides battling for control.
As the match appeared destined for a draw, Esther Okoronkwo produced the decisive moment, scoring in the 89th minute to seal victory for the Super Falcons.
The friendly served as Nigeria's final tune-up ahead of the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco, where the Super Falcons will be aiming to reclaim the continental crown. The victory provides Justine Madugu's side with a timely confidence boost as they head into the tournament.
