Sporting Lagos deepen Enyimba’s crisis as Rangers edge Ranchers Bees

Sporting Lagos condemned nine-time champions Enyimba to a fifth successive defeat, winning 3-2 in Aba to leave the hosts bottom of the Nigeria Premier Football League table without a point.

Stanley Dimgba gave Enyimba the lead a minute before half-time, but Sporting Lagos responded six minutes after the interval when Abdulraqeeb Abdullahi levelled.

Enyimba restored their advantage in the 54th minute after Haruna Hadi converted a penalty. Sporting Lagos refused to concede defeat, however, with Haruna Hadi scoring his second goal of the match in the 65th minute before Daniel Aboh completed the visitors’ comeback four minutes later.

Rangers, the defending champions, claimed a narrow 1-0 home victory against Ranchers Bees. Chidozie Iwundu scored the only goal 10 minutes before full-time.

Barau FC moved to the top of the table after defeating Abia Warriors 2-0. Joseph Atule and Ibrahim Ayoola scored for the Maliya Boys.

Shooting Stars also recorded a 2-0 win, beating Katsina United in Ibadan through goals from Olanrewaju Ridwan and Qamar Adegoke.

Doma United surrendered a two-goal lead before drawing 2-2 with Plateau United at the Pantami Stadium. Michael Adegbite scored twice for the hosts, but Gideon Monday and Paul Samson replied to earn Plateau United a point.

At Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Inter Lagos and Kano Pillars shared a 1-1 draw. Former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa provided the assist for Ubong Friday to open the scoring 12 minutes before half-time.

Bashir Abdulkarim equalised for Inter Lagos 15 minutes from the end.

Former champions Bendel Insurance beat Ikorodu City 2-1. Chinedu Nwosu put Insurance ahead from the penalty spot four minutes before the interval, while Aderemi Adeoye brought Ikorodu City level in the 79th minute.

Alex Oweilayefa struck six minutes before full-time to secure victory for Bendel Insurance.

Niger Tornadoes drew 0-0 with Wolves at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.
