Spains Supreme Court upholds four-year prison sentence for Santi Mina

Santi Mina must serve a four-year prison sentence after Spain's Supreme Court rejected his appeal against a conviction for the rape of a young woman at a nightclub in Almeria.

The legal case involving the former Celta and Valencia striker has continued for more than nine years. Mina had spent that time seeking to avoid punishment for the sexual offence, which took place nine years ago.

According to derbyderbyderby.it, the Supreme Court recently confirmed the sentence imposed on Mina, who was born in 1995. His request for an acquittal was dismissed by the court.

The woman who brought the case had sought a tougher punishment, asking for the former Valencia forward to be sentenced to eight years in prison. The Supreme Court rejected that request as well, leaving the four-year term in place.

Mina must also pay the victim compensation of 25,000 euros.
