Salem Adeyemi: Nigeria midfielder joins Zebbug Rangers

Nigeria midfielder Salem Adeyemi has joined Zebbug Rangers, returning to the Maltese club after a period without a club.

The 21-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027. Adeyemi plays in midfield and officially began his new spell with Zebbug Rangers on 15 September 2026.

Adeyemi previously represented Zebbug Rangers after joining from FC Swieqi United on a free transfer in August 2024. He left the club in July 2025 and spent the following period without a club before completing his return.

His previous time with Zebbug Rangers included appearances in the Challenge League and its finals, as well as the Maltese FA Trophy. He recorded five appearances in the Challenge League finals and a further five in the league, while also making two appearances in the FA Trophy.

Adeyemi scored once in the Maltese FA Trophy, with his goal coming across 120 minutes of competition action. His recorded league appearances amounted to 62 minutes in the Challenge League and 126 minutes in the finals.

Before his first move to Malta, Adeyemi played for Ilaji FC in Nigeria. He joined FC Swieqi United from Ilaji FC in July 2024, also on a free transfer, before moving to Zebbug Rangers the following month.

The midfielder’s return gives Zebbug Rangers a player with previous experience of the club and of Maltese domestic football. His latest move also marks a second spell in the Challenge League after his earlier appearances in the competition and its finals.

Adeyemi remains registered as a Nigeria international by nationality, while his club career to date has included football in Nigeria and Malta. His return to Zebbug Rangers was completed on 15 September 2026, with the midfielder contracted through June 2027.
