Roma’s early-season scoring surge reaches 23 goals

Roma’s 4-2 victory over Cagliari took their total to 23 goals in the opening nine matches of the season, their most prolific start for a decade.

The result also marked the third occasion this season on which Roma have scored four times in a single game. Their current scoring record is the club’s best since 2016/17, when Luciano Spalletti’s side had also found the net 23 times after nine matches.

The contrast with last season is significant. At the same stage of the 2023/24 campaign, Roma had scored only 10 goals.

Roma’s next match will be away to Udinese on Sunday, the final day of October.
