Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off for the first time in a league match since May 2021 as his side were reduced to 10 men against Manchester United but still fought back to earn a draw.
The Uruguay international last received a red card in the league while playing for Juventus, in a match against Inter.
Bentancur also became the first Tottenham player since Lucas Moura in April 2023 to be dismissed in the Premier League after coming on as a substitute. Moura was sent off during Tottenham’s match against Everton.
Despite Bentancur’s dismissal, Tottenham managed to level the score in a difficult sixth-round meeting with Manchester United.
Tottenham’s next match will be against Coventry, another of the current season’s troubled sides.
