Real Sociedad head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has spoken about the debut of 20-year-old defender Hector Fort, who joined the San Sebastian club from Barcelona.

Fort made his first appearance for Real Sociedad in their latest La Liga match, coming on late in the 3-2 victory over Elche. The defender was introduced towards the end of the game as Real Sociedad secured three points in a five-goal contest.

Matarazzo’s comments focused on Fort’s first outing for his new club, following the young Spaniard’s move away from Barcelona. The available report does not include the manager’s detailed assessment, but confirms that the Real Sociedad boss addressed the defender’s debut after the match.

Fort completed his transfer to Real Sociedad at the end of last summer. The club paid eight million euros for the player, who had previously been developed by Barcelona.

The appearance against Elche was therefore Fort’s first competitive involvement for Real Sociedad since making the move. His introduction came during the closing stages, giving him a brief opportunity to feature for his new side in La Liga.

Real Sociedad’s victory moved them to ninth place in the table. They have collected seven points from their opening five matches of the league campaign.

The 3-2 result against Elche was the latest step in their season and provided the setting for Fort to begin his career at the club. Although he entered the game late, his debut marked his first appearance since leaving Barcelona for the San Sebastian side.

Fort is now part of a Real Sociedad squad competing in Spain’s top flight, with the club currently positioned in the middle section of the La Liga standings. The eight-million-euro signing was able to make his first contribution during a match in which his new team scored three times and held on for victory.

Matarazzo’s remarks came after the game and placed attention on the defender’s first appearance for Real Sociedad. Fort’s move had been completed at the end of the previous summer, while his competitive debut arrived in the club’s fifth league match of the campaign.

With seven points from five games, Real Sociedad sit ninth in La Liga. Their win over Elche ended the match with a 3-2 scoreline and allowed Fort to make his first appearance for the club in the closing stages.
