Real Madrid could welcome back Ibrahima Konate for their LaLiga meeting with Villarreal on October 10tth after the defender returned to full training following a muscle injury sustained on international duty with France.

Jose Mourinho’s side resume domestic action after an extended international break having won five of their opening seven matches in the 2026/27 league season. However, they face several fitness and availability concerns before hosting the Yellow Submarine in Madrid.

Konate left the France camp early because of the muscle problem, but has trained fully since Real Madrid returned to work. The former Liverpool defender could now be considered for selection alongside Antonio Rudiger this weekend.

Real Madrid will be without Dean Huijsen, who is suspended after being sent off in the 2-0 derby defeat by Atletico Madrid immediately before the international break.

Mourinho’s defensive options have also been weakened by the long-term absences of Raul Asencio and Eder Militao, increasing the importance of Konate’s potential return.

Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde are both doubtful for the match. Mbappe ended his time with France early because of an injury, while Valverde also returned from Uruguay duty ahead of schedule after suffering a fitness problem.
