Galatasaray have confirmed that recovering striker Victor Osimhen has been called up by Nigeria for their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) selection was confirmed by the Turkish Super Lig club, according to BSNSports.com.ng.

Nigeria begin their qualifying campaign against Madagascar on September 23 before facing Guinea-Bissau four days later, on September 27.

The call-up was reported on Tuesday by Turkish football pundit Ali Naci Kucuk, who shared the information on his official X account, formerly known as Twitter.

“Victor Osimhen and Rafael Leao have been called up to their national teams,” Kucuk posted.

Osimhen is currently recovering, but his inclusion means he remains part of Coach Eric Chelle’s plans for Nigeria’s first two fixtures in the qualifying campaign.

Chelle is expected to select a familiar-looking Super Eagles squad, with several regular players likely to keep their places.
