Osasuna sack Ramis after eight games and reappoint former boss Arrasate
Osasuna have dismissed head coach Luis Miguel Ramis after eight matches in charge and appointed former manager Jagoba Arrasate as his successor.
The decision was confirmed on Monday, following Sunday’s 5-2 defeat by Real Betis, which proved to be Ramis’ final opportunity to change the club’s fortunes.
Osasuna have won twice in LaLiga this season and are 16th in the table with eight points. Ramis, who took charge in July, leaves after a run of four defeats in five matches during which the side conceded 17 goals.
Arrasate has agreed a contract with Osasuna until 2029 and will return to El Sadar two years after leaving the club. The 48-year-old spent the intervening period managing Mallorca.
Vicente Moreno, Alessio Lisci and Ramis have all held the Osasuna job since Arrasate’s departure, but none remained in charge for more than a season.
Arrasate became a popular figure in Pamplona during his first six-year spell with the club. He guided Osasuna back to LaLiga and led them to the second Copa del Rey final in their history in 2023.
Osasuna also qualified for the Conference League in the same season.
