Zinedine Zidane’s start as France manager continued with a victory over Belgium after the side had beaten Turkey, but it was his reaction to Michael Olise’s decisive goal that attracted most of the attention.

Belgium-France appeared destined to finish goalless despite chances for both teams. However, moments before the final whistle, Olise broke the deadlock in dramatic fashion.

The Bayern Munich forward collected the ball inside his own half before driving forward on a solo run. He completed the move by beating Senne Lammens with a powerful finish to give France a 1-0 victory.

The goal prompted an exuberant response from Zidane on the touchline. The France manager ran towards a football resting on a training cone and, overcome with delight, kicked it forcefully into the distance.

The unusual celebration quickly became a talking point on social media and drew plenty of laughter.

Asked about the footage after the match, Zidane said: “When I saw Olise running, I already knew he was going to score.”

The manager also laughed when shown images of his own reaction to the winning goal.

France will return to competitive action against Italy on Friday. Three days later, they will face Belgium again.
