NPFL: Katsina United Stage Late Comeback to Hold Plateau United
Katsina United produced a dramatic late rally to snatch a point from Plateau United in a thrilling 2-2 draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 10 clash, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Plateau United took the lead in the 30th minute through an own goal by Umar Rabiu, leaving the hosts with work to do as the visitors carried their advantage into the second half.
The Jos-based side looked to have secured all three points when Jibril Ibrahim doubled their lead in the 82nd minute, putting Katsina United under pressure with time running out.
However, the hosts responded almost immediately as Yusha’u Armiya’u found the net in the 84th minute to reduce the deficit and revive hopes of a comeback.
Katsina United continued to push forward in search of an equaliser, and their persistence paid off in the third minute of stoppage time when Rabiu scored to make amends for his earlier own goal.
The late strike sparked celebrations among the home supporters and ensured that Katsina United recovered from a two-goal deficit to claim a share of the points.
For Plateau United, the result was a frustrating end to a match in which they had appeared close to victory after establishing a comfortable lead late in the game.
Both teams will now turn their attention to their next league fixtures as the battle for points continues in the 2026/27 NPFL season.
