Nigeria name 25-man squad for WAFU B U-17 Championship
Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere has selected a 25-man squad for the WAFU B U-17 Championship in Burkina Faso.
Five-time world champions Nigeria have been placed in Group B with Niger Republic and hosts Burkina Faso at the regional tournament, which will determine qualification for next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Group A consists of Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic, with the teams competing for places in the knockout stages.
Uwejamomere has chosen three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and seven forwards for the competition.
The Nigerian squad is due to leave the country on Tuesday morning. The Eaglets will then have eight days to complete their tactical and technical preparations before beginning their campaign on October 14.
The tournament is scheduled to start in Burkina Faso next Wednesday, with Nigeria aiming to begin strongly and secure a place at next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
