AS Monaco are reportedly in the strongest position to sign Slavia Prague midfielder David Moses during the winter transfer window.

The 22-year-old Nigeria international has attracted interest from several European clubs after a series of impressive performances for the Czech champions last season. He has continued to develop this term, further increasing attention around his future.

Moses joined Slavia Prague in January 2025 from fellow Czech club MFK Karvina. Since arriving, he has gradually established himself in the midfield and become an important part of the team.

His energy, technical ability and tactical understanding have helped him make an impression in the Slavia side. Those qualities have also placed him on the radar of clubs in both France and Italy.

Monaco interest confirmed

According to Footy-Africa, Monaco have moved ahead of the competition in the pursuit of Moses. A source within the agency representing the player said interest in the midfielder was growing and indicated that Slavia Prague would not necessarily block a move if suitable terms could be agreed by all parties.

The same source also played down reports of interest from AS Roma. Those claims, initially revealed exclusively by Africafoot, suggested the Italian club was tracking the player, but Moses' representative said no concrete contact had been made with Roma.

The situation is reportedly different in Monaco. The Principality club has made enquiries about Moses and is following his progress closely, according to the representative.

That leaves Monaco as the leading contender for his signature, although the source stressed that the race remains open. Being considered the favourite does not guarantee a transfer in January, particularly because Slavia Prague retain a strong negotiating position.

Moses' contract with the Czech club runs until 2029, giving Slavia significant control over any potential deal. His market value is estimated at 10 million euros, a figure that could play a central role in negotiations.

Several French and Italian clubs are also understood to be monitoring the midfielder's situation. Monaco must now decide whether to turn their interest into a formal move when the winter window opens.

A switch to Ligue 1 would represent another step in Moses' career and offer him the opportunity to continue his development in a more widely followed championship. However, no transfer has been officially announced.

For now, the Nigerian midfielder remains a Slavia Prague player, but his performances have made him one of the more sought-after young players in European football. Monaco appear to have gained an advantage in the race, with the club's interest understood to be more concrete than that of AS Roma.
