Mikel Arteta has become the highest-paid manager in the English top flight after signing a new four-year contract with Arsenal.
The 44-year-old Spanish coach will earn about £20m per season under the agreement, according to The Times. His annual income could rise to £25m when bonuses are included.
Arteta’s previous contract paid him approximately £12m a year, with a further £3m available in bonuses.
He has been in charge of Arsenal since December 2019. The club won the English title last season, while Arteta’s side have taken 12 points from the opening fixtures of the current Premier League campaign and are second in the table.
