Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has responded to the controversial decision to allow Erling Haaland’s goal in last Sunday’s Manchester derby against Manchester City.

The match, which Manchester United lost 1-0, was followed by an official admission from the refereeing committee that the goal should not have counted. The committee formally apologised to the “Red Devils” shortly after the final whistle.

Asked about the incident, Carrick said: “I accept the apology.”

Manchester United return to action today with an away fixture against Fulham. Kick-off is scheduled for 18:30 Moscow time.
