Manchester United travel to the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Wednesday night needing a result as manager Michael Carrick attempts to end a run of six matches without a win.

United have won only one of their seven Premier League games and sit 13th in the table, increasing the pressure on Carrick ahead of their next Champions League fixture.

Their European campaign began with a 4-0 victory over Sabah, but that was followed by a 2-0 defeat by Atletico Madrid.

Como arrive in stronger domestic form after beating Fiorentina 3-1. That result lifted them to fifth in Serie A, with 14 points from their opening seven matches.

The hosts will be without Trevoh Chalobah, who has a muscular problem, while Moise Kean is sidelined by a shin injury and Assane Diao has a thigh problem.

Manchester United also have several absentees. Manuel Ugarte is ruled out with a knee injury, Patrick Dorgu is unavailable because of a hamstring issue, Leny Yoro is suspended and Benjamin Sesko is out with a shin problem.

Ayden Heaven will be assessed because of illness, while Kobbie Mainoo is being monitored for an unspecified issue. Lisandro Martinez has a thigh problem and Luke Shaw is also to be assessed before kick-off.

The match begins at 17:45 UK time at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Como have lost only once at home in all competitions since February. During that period they have recorded six wins and three draws.

The fixture is also a significant occasion for Como, who are making their debut in the Champions League league phase. It is their first match against English opposition.

Como are expected to start with Sanchez in goal, behind a defence of Smolcic, Ramon, Chalobah and Valle. Milla and Perrone are expected in midfield, with Rodriguez, Baturina and Kaiki supporting Paz.

Manchester United’s expected line-up is Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Martinez and Heaven; Santos, Baleba; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Tielemans; Rashford.
