Manchester City have asked head coach Enzo Maresca to reassure the club’s players after being found guilty of numerous financial-rule breaches, according to The Touchline.

City face a severe punishment, although the proceedings are still far from reaching a conclusion. The club submitted an appeal on the first day of October.

The report says Maresca met a representative of Manchester City’s owners, the chair of the board and the club’s chief executive. During the meeting, they asked him to speak to the squad and assure the players that the case would ultimately end favourably for the club.

Manchester City’s senior figures continue to insist that the club is not guilty. They also want to ensure that the uncertainty surrounding the case does not have a negative effect on the players’ concentration.
