Madagascar arrive in Uyo ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON 2027 qualifier

Madagascar have arrived in Uyo for their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

A 28-man delegation of players and officials reached Victor Attah International Airport at about 2:05 p.m. before travelling to their hotel after completing immigration procedures.

More members of the Madagascar party are expected to join the squad in Uyo on Tuesday.

Corentin Martins’ team will play Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday in the first matchday of the qualifying campaign.

The Barea will then return to Madagascar, where they are scheduled to host Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their second fixture four days later.

Madagascar will take confidence from their previous meeting with Nigeria, having beaten the Super Eagles 2-0 in the group stage of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
