Lookman Declares Fitness Ahead of Atletico’s Champions League Clash with Arsenal
Ademola Lookman has confirmed he is fully fit and ready for Atlético Madrid’s UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg showdown against Arsenal F.C., Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Nigerian winger had missed Atletico’s last two matches due to an adductor injury but has now recovered in time for the crucial encounter at the Metropolitano.
“I missed the last few matches, but now I feel much better,” Lookman said during a pre-match press conference.
The forward also reflected on his early connection with the North London side, recalling his first experience against them during his youth career.
“The first time I played against Arsenal was when I was a kid, with Charlton. Wednesday will be a very special game,” he added.
Lookman emphasised the importance of home support, noting that the fans could play a decisive role against the Premier League side.
“As long as we have the fans with us, it’s special. They give us a lot of energy. When we played in Barcelona, the fans were at our hotel since 11am, that feeling is just unmatched,” he said.
The 26-year-old also credited head coach Diego Simeone for his development, particularly in improving his all-round game.
“I’ve grown in every way with Diego Simeone, especially defensively. I think I’m a more complete player now, but I can still improve in every aspect. It’s great to have his trust, it gives you even more confidence,” Lookman stated.
