Liverpool v Brighton: six-goal draw forecast for 25 October Premier League fixture
Liverpool will host Brighton on Sunday, 25 October, in an eighth-round English Premier League meeting between two sides enjoying strong starts to the season.
Liverpool have lost only one of their seven league matches so far. Under Andoni Iraola, they have won three of their other six games and drawn the remaining three, taking their total to 12 points.
That return leaves Liverpool fifth in the table, although their goal difference is only plus one. They have scored nine goals and conceded eight.
Brighton arrive at Anfield in third place, a position that represents an unusually high standing for the club at this stage of the campaign. Fabian Hurzeler’s side have collected 16 points from seven matches, with five victories, one draw and one defeat.
The Seagulls have also produced the strongest attacking and defensive figures in the league. Brighton have scored 23 goals, more than any other team, while conceding just five the lowest total in the competition.
The two sides’ recent form underlines the challenge facing both defences. Liverpool have suffered only one defeat in their last 13 matches, while Brighton have put together a six-match winning run.
Their overall head-to-head record includes 46 meetings. Liverpool have won 25 of those matches, compared with nine victories for Brighton, while the teams have drawn on 12 occasions.
Despite Brighton’s position in the table and their impressive results, bookmakers make Liverpool the favourites to win Sunday’s match.
Both teams have shown considerable attacking efficiency this season, and the forecast points towards an open contest with chances at both ends. The prediction is for the points to be shared in a 3-3 draw.
