Lamine Camara’s Monaco future hangs in balance after Chelsea approach

Monaco have rejected a €45m offer from Chelsea for central midfielder Lamine Camara, leaving the 22-year-old’s future uncertain with the summer transfer window in England set to close overnight from 1 to 2 September.

The decision means Camara could remain with Monaco, although it is not yet known whether Chelsea will return with an improved proposal in the coming hours.

The development was reported by journalist Matt Law, who said the French club had declined Chelsea’s attempt to sign the Senegal international for €45m. Monaco’s stance has placed the focus on whether the Premier League club will make another move before the deadline.

Chelsea’s interest comes at a late stage of the English transfer window, which closes during the night between 1 and 2 September. Any further approach would therefore have to be made quickly if the London club is to try to complete a deal before the deadline passes.

Camara has already featured regularly for Monaco at the start of the new season. He has played in four matches across all competitions and has scored once.

For now, Monaco’s rejection leaves Camara in a position where he may continue the campaign with the club. However, the possibility of further discussions remains open while Chelsea consider whether to make another offer.

The midfielder’s current involvement in Monaco’s team has included appearances in four games this season, with his single goal adding to his contribution before the transfer speculation emerged.
