AFC Bournemouth took a 2-0 lead into half-time at Real Sociedad in the first round of the Europa League after a confident opening 45 minutes.

Justin Kluivert opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing from A. Truffert’s assist to give the visitors an early advantage. The goal was checked by VAR two minutes later and was confirmed as valid.

Bournemouth doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Rayan converted after being set up by Alex Scott. The result left Real Sociedad facing a difficult second half, despite the Spanish side having more possession.

Real Sociedad had held 55% of the ball compared with Bournemouth’s 45%, but they were unable to turn that territorial advantage into goals. Bournemouth’s two-goal cushion was still intact at the interval, with the half officially ending at 45+1.

The English side will now begin the second half in a strong position as they look to complete a major away result in the opening round.
