Juventus goalkeeper Kamil Grabara faces up to seven months out after ACL surgery

Juventus goalkeeper Kamil Grabara has undergone surgery after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during training.

The 27-year-old confirmed the injury on social media on Wednesday, meaning he is set to miss Poland’s Nations League group stage matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Media reports suggest Grabara could be sidelined for up to seven months.

“I’m not going to lie, this is not something I ever wanted to post, but life comes at you fast sometimes,” Grabara wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of himself in a hospital bed.

Grabara joined Juventus on loan from Wolfsburg in August and made his debut for the Serie A club on Thursday. He provided an assist and was named player of the match as Juventus beat NEC Nijmegen 5-0 in the Europa League.

The goalkeeper felt a strain in his right knee during training on Saturday. Subsequent tests confirmed that he had suffered an ACL tear.

Local media reports say Juventus are close to reaching an agreement with Brazilian goalkeeper Neto, 37, to replace Grabara. Neto previously played for Juventus between 2015 and 2017.
