Inter Lagos seek revival under Olusanjo Olutayo against Nasarawa United
Inter Lagos will look to climb off the bottom of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table when they host Nasarawa United, with interim coach Olusanjo Olutayo targeting his first three points in charge.
The Lagos club have collected only two points from their opening eight matches and are facing an early battle to avoid being cut adrift in the relegation zone.
Olutayo was appointed on an interim basis after Shakiru Giwa resigned following the team’s difficult start to the season. The fixture against Nasarawa United gives the new coach an immediate opportunity to improve the club’s fortunes.
Inter Lagos’ position has been worsened by a recent deduction of three points and three goals. The punishment followed a breach of NPFL framework rules during their Matchday 7 fixture against Katsina United on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The club now need a result to begin recovering from that setback and to provide momentum for the remainder of the campaign. A victory would also represent Olutayo’s first points since taking responsibility for the side.
Inter Lagos will need greater consistency, better tactical organisation and stronger performances across the team if they are to reverse their fortunes.
Nasarawa United arrive with their own need for a positive result, setting up a closely contested encounter between two sides seeking to change the direction of their seasons.
