Gareth Bale says Tottenham’s squad overhaul will take time to deliver results

Former Tottenham forward Gareth Bale believes the club can improve their prospects of qualifying for European competition this season, but says their major squad rebuild means progress will not happen immediately.

Tottenham have taken only two points from their opening four Premier League matches and currently sit 17th in the table under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Bale said the scale of the changes made to the squad meant the team needed time to find consistency and improve their position.

Tottenham will have an opportunity to claim their first league win of the season when they host Aston Villa in the fifth round on 19 September.
