Former West Ham goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko dies aged 64

Former West Ham goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died at the age of 64 after a serious illness he had battled for several years.

The Czech goalkeeper is remembered with great affection at West Ham, where he spent eight years from 1990 to 1998. He is also highly regarded by Blackburn Rovers supporters, despite never playing for the club.

One of Miklosko’s finest performances came on the final day of the 1994-95 season. He helped West Ham hold Manchester United to a 1-1 draw, a result that preserved Blackburn Rovers’ only league title in the club’s history.

Miklosko also represented his country, playing first for Czechoslovakia and later for Czechia. He won a combined total of 42 international caps.

His death was caused by the serious illness with which he had been living for several years.
