Flamingos beat Burkina Faso to make it three wins from three

Nigeria’s Flamingos maintained their perfect start to the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup with a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday.

The result gives Nigeria nine points from three matches and extends their unbeaten run in the competition.

Nigeria controlled possession from the start and spent long periods applying pressure, but Burkina Faso’s organised defence prevented them from creating a decisive opening during a tightly contested first half.

The Flamingos produced several promising attacking moves but could not convert their chances before the break. The teams went into half-time level at 0-0.

Nigeria increased the intensity after the restart, forcing Burkina Faso further back and creating more opportunities in the final third.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 82nd minute when Mary Dunstan kept her composure to score and put the Flamingos in front.

Burkina Faso were unable to mount a response as Nigeria continued to dictate the match. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi then confirmed the victory deep into stoppage time, scoring the second goal to secure all three points.

The win strengthens Nigeria’s position in the competition and leaves the Flamingos with maximum points from their opening three fixtures.

They will now focus on their next match as they aim to maintain their momentum and continue their challenge for the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup.
