Flamingos Arrive in Togo for Decisive Benin World Cup Qualifier
Nigeria's U-17 women's national team, the Flamingos, have arrived in Lomé, Togo, ahead of Saturday's decisive second-leg clash against Benin Republic in the final qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Nigerian delegation landed safely at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport before checking into the Hôtel Le Pélican, where the team will be based ahead of the crucial encounter.
Head coach Akeem Busari and his players wasted no time in their preparations, holding their first training session on Friday evening as they fine-tuned plans for the return leg.
The decisive fixture will be played at the Stade de Kégué, with both West African rivals battling for a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.
The Flamingos travel to Togo with a narrow advantage after edging Benin Republic 3-2 in the first leg at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne last weekend.
Queen Joseph, Shakirat Moshood Adegbuyi and Ifeanyi Kindness were on the scoresheet for Nigeria, while Benin Republic kept the tie finely balanced by scoring two valuable away goals.
The winner on aggregate will secure one of Africa's qualification slots for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, scheduled to take place in Morocco in October.
