Fiorentina return to winning ways as Venezia suffer fourth successive defeat

Fiorentina began Paolo Vanoli’s return as head coach with a 4-2 victory over Venezia in Friday’s Serie A fourth-round match.

The result gave Fiorentina three points after a game in which Franco Mastantuono scored a hat-trick. Venezia, meanwhile, were beaten for the fourth consecutive time.

The visitors opened the scoring when Akor Adams found the net, with Gianluca Busio providing the assist. Fiorentina responded in the 29th minute as Mastantuono restored parity.

The turnaround was completed almost immediately afterwards, with Mastantuono scoring again to put Fiorentina ahead and complete his brace.

Venezia attempted to respond after the interval, but Fiorentina extended their advantage in the 66th minute through Mateo Pellegrino.

Mastantuono then completed his hat-trick to strengthen the visitors’ position before Antoine Eno scored the final goal of the match.

The victory marked a successful return for Vanoli, as Fiorentina claimed the three points they had been waiting for. Venezia were left without a point from the match and suffered their fourth defeat in a row.
