Fernandes left out of Manchester United XI for Bournemouth match

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named among the substitutes for the Premier League meeting with Bournemouth, with manager Michael Carrick saying the decision was made solely for footballing reasons.

Asked whether Fernandes’ absence from the starting line-up was related to tactical considerations or other circumstances, Carrick replied: “Exclusively footballing.”

The decision comes after Fernandes criticised Carrick’s tactics following Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat by Como in the Champions League.
