Enyimba will attempt to revive their 2026/27 EUROMATCH Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign when they welcome Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) to Aba on Wednesday.

The People’s Elephant have taken only one point from their opening four matches and are bottom of the table. Their difficult start included a 2-1 defeat by Niger Tornadoes on Matchday 1 and a goalless draw against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium last weekend.

Nine-time league champions Enyimba face a 3SC side who have collected six points from four games and currently sit 16th.

The meeting was initially due to take place on Matchday 2, but the NPFL postponed it indefinitely to give 3SC time to concentrate on their CAF Confederation Cup tie against CS Sfaxien.

Wednesday’s match gives Enyimba an opportunity to draw on a strong recent home record in this fixture. When the clubs last met in Aba, in December 2025, Enyimba recorded a 3-0 victory over the Oluyole Warriors.

However, 3SC responded in emphatic fashion a few weeks later, beating Enyimba 3-0 in Ibadan in January 2026.

Enyimba technical adviser Emmanuel Deutsch has played down the significance of his side’s poor beginning to the season. Despite their failure to win any of their first four league games, Deutsch previously said there was “no fire on the mountain”.

He also stressed that Enyimba must secure victory in Aba for their supporters.

The pressure on the home side is heightened by the early progress of other clubs. Barau FC currently lead the league, while Rangers and Plateau United are also building momentum.

Another failure to win would risk leaving Enyimba detached from the teams higher up the table at an early stage of the campaign.

The rescheduled programme also includes three other fixtures on Wednesday. Katsina United will host Rivers United, Sporting Lagos will face Ikorodu City, and Warri Wolves will take on Enugu Rangers.
