Doma United’s Ayeni pleased with attacking display after Plateau United draw

Doma United technical adviser Ayodeji Ayeni has praised his side’s performance after they surrendered a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Plateau United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Savannah Tigers made a strong start at home as Adegbite Michael scored twice to put them in control. Plateau United responded after the interval, with Gideon Monday and Paul Samson finding the net to earn their side a share of the points.

Despite Doma United’s failure to hold on to their advantage, Ayeni said he was encouraged by the way his players performed, particularly in attack.

“My players played well. If we didn’t play well, we couldn’t have scored,” Ayeni told Doma United’s media.

“We were trying to consolidate on our goals, but their first goal came against the run of play through a deflection, which we can’t help.”

Ayeni called for a strong response from the players as Doma United prepare for their next away fixture.

“We just need to psyche the players up and lift their game so we can pick up points on the road,” he added.

“To some extent, I am satisfied with the performance of my players, especially the fact that they were able to score goals.”

The draw leaves Doma United without a win in their past two league matches. They have dropped to third in the NPFL table, with 10 points from five matches.

The Gombe-based club will have the chance to return to winning ways on Sunday, when they travel to the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium to play Katsina United.
