Doma United will attempt to revive their EUROMATCH Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign when they host Warri Wolves at Pantami Stadium, Gombe, on Sunday.

The hosts began the season with three consecutive victories and briefly moved to the top of the table, but their momentum has since stalled. They have taken only one point from their past three matches, drawing once and losing twice.

Their latest setback came last weekend, when they were beaten 2-1 away by Katsina United. The run has seen Doma United fall to fifth in the standings, although they still have 10 points from six games.

They will take confidence from their record in Gombe. Doma United have played only once at home this season, winning 2-0 against Sporting Lagos, and will be seeking a second victory in front of their supporters.

Warri Wolves arrive with a record of two wins, one draw and three defeats from their opening six matches. Their seven points leave them 15th in the table as they continue to adjust to life back in the NPFL.

The Delta-based side will also be looking to respond after a disputed 1-0 defeat by Enugu Rangers in their rescheduled Matchday 2 fixture on Tuesday. The game was played at Ozoro.

Warri Wolves were unhappy with the officiating, but Delta State Government Sports Commissioner Onoriode Oborevwori has urged the team to put the result behind them and concentrate on the next challenge.

“Please put the game behind you and focus on the next game against Doma United. I believe in you guys. Your next match, I know you can do it. Let’s go and get the big three points,” Oborevwori told the players after the loss to Rangers.

Warri Wolves’ problems have extended beyond results. They have scored only three goals this season and have collected just one point from their three away matches.

That record will provide encouragement for a Doma United side seeking to stop its recent slide. With strong home support expected at Pantami Stadium, the hosts will see the fixture as an opportunity to return to winning ways and move back into the top three.
