Doma United Maintain Perfect Start, Beat Inter Lagos in Lagos
Doma United continued their impressive return to the Nigeria Premier Football League with a narrow 1-0 victory over fellow newcomers Inter Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Rilwanu Sadiq scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute, finding the back of the net to give the Savannah Tigers a lead they successfully protected until the final whistle.
The victory means Doma United have won both of their opening matches since returning to the NPFL, following their 2-0 triumph over Sporting Lagos on Matchday One.
Inter Lagos, meanwhile, remain without a point after two games. The Lagos-based side began their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Shooting Stars before suffering another setback against Doma United.
The result also extends Inter Lagos’ difficult recent run, with the newcomers now recording three defeats in their last five competitive matches stretching back to last season.
Doma United, on the other hand, have responded strongly after a two-match losing streak, winning three of their last five competitive fixtures.
Their latest success once again highlighted the tactical discipline and teamwork praised by technical adviser Ayodeji Ayeni following the opening-day victory over Sporting Lagos.
Doma United will now look to maintain their perfect start as they continue their first season back in Nigeria’s top-flight league.
