Daniel Maldini discharged after six injured in Milan car crash

Daniel Maldini was discharged from hospital on Sunday morning after being involved in a car accident in Milan, in which six people sustained minor injuries.

The Cagliari forward, 24, was taken to Fatebenefratelli hospital under a yellow code after the collision between two cars. He underwent medical tests before being released later that morning.

Maldini had stayed overnight in Milan after playing for Cagliari in Bergamo on the previous evening. He scored the decisive penalty in their victory over Atalanta.

The crash happened at about 05:15 on Via Caracciolo, in the northern outskirts of the Lombardy capital. The other people involved were two women aged 20 and 22, and three men aged 19, 20 and 21. Maldini will turn 25 in a month.

Three ambulances and a medical unit attended the scene. One injured person was treated there, while the other five were taken to hospital.

Local police remain at the scene as they investigate the precise circumstances of the accident.
