Chidera Ejuke features as Sevilla lose 3-1 to Barcelona in La Liga
Chidera Ejuke made his sixth La Liga appearance of the season as Sevilla were beaten 3-1 by reigning champions Barcelona on Saturday.
The Super Eagles midfielder came on in the 59th minute, replacing Jose Angel Carmona (Correia), and provided energy on the flank as the hosts attempted to recover from Barcelona’s turnaround.
Sevilla had taken a surprise lead in the 19th minute, with a fine finish sending the home supporters into celebration. Their advantage lasted only three minutes, however, before Raphinha equalised for Barcelona.
The Brazil forward struck again seven minutes after the restart to put the visitors ahead, then completed his hat-trick to give Barcelona control of the match and leave Sevilla facing a difficult route back into the contest.
Sevilla pressed for a late response, but Barcelona dealt comfortably with the hosts’ efforts and secured all three points. The result also means the champions extended their unbeaten record this season.
