Chelsea’s Cole Palmer wants England break to manage workload, says report

Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer is planning to make himself unavailable for England’s forthcoming Nations League fixtures, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

Palmer is understood to want to reduce his workload and take extra days off during the international break. The 24-year-old has played seven matches in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

Two Manchester United players, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, could also miss out on the England squad because of fitness problems.

England are due to host Spain on 26 September in their opening Nations League match. Kick-off is scheduled for 21:45 Moscow time.
